Zhen’an Bridge

Zhen’an Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Zhen’an Bridge is located on the main street of Linjiang Town, Pucheng County, dating back to the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty.

The bridge is situated on the main street of Linjiang Town, Pucheng County, spanning the Linjiang Stream and connecting Shuixi Village with Shuidong Village. It has four piers and three arches, with an overall length of 70.45 meters, a width of 3.6 meters, and a height of 6 meters. The east and west approach ramps are each 5 meters long, with 21 stone steps, and are flanked by stone railings. The bridge piers are built from large square stones, each measuring 3 meters wide and 9.9 meters long, with large carved stone statues of mythical birds on the upstream-facing side of each pier. The piers are topped with circular logs arranged in a grid pattern, projecting out layer by layer, and then supporting massive wooden beams. The bridge deck is made of wood and covered with a covered walkway. The walkway consists of single-bay structures, with 46 pillars, a gable and hip roof, a single eave sloping on both sides, windbreak boards under the eaves, railings on both sides, and long wooden benches. At the center of the walkway is a shrine. Brick archway-style gate walls stand at both the eastern and western ends of the bridge. Above the archways, stone plaques are inscribed with the words “Zhen’an Protection.” On the eastern bridge abutment, a damaged stele remains, engraved with the donation amounts from local people in the 29th year of the Guangxu period (1903).

Zhen’an Bridge was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.

Linjiang Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Pucheng County. Established as Linjiang Township in 1950, reorganized as Linjiang Commune in 1958, and upgraded to a town in 1984. Located in the central-southern part of the county within the Xixi River basin, it is 13 kilometers from the county seat.
