Pucheng Shili Liantang Scenic Area

Pucheng Shili Liantang Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

“Shili Liantang” is one of the sub-projects under the “Water Beauty City” construction initiative in Pucheng County. Located in Liantang Town, it connects various scenic spots within its jurisdiction—including “Guman Shanqiao,” “Tianxia Wen Zhang,” “Yiyang Nanshan,” “Putian Yixian,” “Wenda Xiyan,” and “Meili Tongyuan”—forming a picturesque route where every step offers a new view.

On December 28, 2018, the Nanping Municipal Tourism Development Commission announced that Pucheng Shili Liantang Scenic Area had met the standards of a national 3A-level tourist attraction and approved it as such.

Stepping into the “Shili Liantang” scenic area, every spot is a delightful view to linger on. The rustic wooden arched bridge of “Guman Shanqiao” spans the river. Legend has it that in ancient times, villagers would dry their harvested grain on the bridge, which is why the village is also called “Guman Shanqiao.” By the riverside, a lush tree seems to whisper the ancient tales of the brown sugar from nearby Shanjiao. Not far away, in the modern greenhouses of “Xiaohuo Agriculture,” tender strawberries glisten bright red, their sweet-and-sour flavor mirroring the increasingly sweet life changes of the Liantang people. Inside the spring-like greenhouses, visitors can not only admire a variety of flowers but also enjoy the fun of picking seasonal vegetables and fruits.

Following the “Zhangshi Xunzong” trail, lined with peculiar rocks, a bright red path winds through the mountains like a festive red sash tied around the verdant peaks. As you hike uphill, the upturned eaves of pavilions and the rustic expanse of viewing platforms come into view. The uniquely designed “Xi Shang Meishao” lamp posts, incorporating elements of Pucheng paper-cutting art, offer a fresh touch. Take a short rest, standing or sitting, to soothe tired eyes and breathe in the fresh air while taking in the beautiful transformation of the new countryside. The Nanshan Temple Merit Monastery, with its red walls and black tiles, is nestled among green mountains and trees. The Fifteen Sons Poetry Corridor showcases the long history and noble family traditions of the Zhang clan. As the ancestral home of the Zhangs, it attracts Zhang clan descendants from both home and abroad who come here to seek their roots every year.

The summer retreat Jinshan Gorge is hidden deep in the mountains of Tongyuan Village. The gorge stretches about 2 kilometers, featuring cascading waterfalls, with the highest drop exceeding 20 meters. One waterfall at the headwaters resembles a giant silver chain inlaid into the rocky cliff. At the upper end of the gorge, there is also a large area of natural wetlands and well-preserved natural forests. Not far from the Jinshan Grand Gorge, the serene Xiyan Temple, filled with the sounds of Buddhist chants, offers a tranquil spot for spiritual cultivation and inner peace.

Every year in March and April, the Dongfeng Reservoir, a key protected water source area, becomes especially picturesque. Purple clover flowers bloom everywhere, as if laying a light purple floral carpet over the land. When the flowers are in full bloom, streams of visitors flock here to admire them.

“Shili Liantang” is one of the sub-projects under the “Water Beauty City” construction initiative in Pucheng County. Its location just 4.9 kilometers from the county seat, the ecological advantages of being surrounded by green mountains and vast fertile fields with beautiful scenery, and the tourism resource strengths that combine traditional and modern agriculture, integrate surname and ancestral hall culture, bolstered by red culture—all contribute to a rich, authentic, complete, sustainable, and diverse array of attractions, making “Shili Liantang” a true backyard garden of Pucheng possible.
