Nine Bend Stream

Nine Bend Stream is located in the secluded peaks and valleys of Wuyi Mountain in Fujian Province. The mountains are not particularly high but possess the grandeur of towering peaks, and the waters are not deep yet encompass the essence of aquatic scenery. The perfect harmony between mountain and water is the most distinctive feature of the Nine Bend Stream tour route.

The winding Nine Bend Stream runs through the crimson cliffs and clustered peaks, like a jade belt stringing pearls, connecting 36 peaks and 99 rocks to form the unique natural beauty of "one stream running through the mountains, with peaks lining both banks like immortal abodes." The stream stretches approximately 9.5 kilometers, winding around the mountains, with the hills standing beside the water. The viewing angles are just right, with alternating shallows and pools. Being there feels like strolling along a fantastical and ever-changing gallery of landscape paintings.

Dazang Peak

Boarding a simple bamboo raft and drifting through the landscape of mountains and water, you can look up to see the mountain scenery, glance down to view the water’s hues, listen to the sound of the stream with your ears, and touch the clear waves with your hands. Travelers can experience the serene harmony of the raft flowing on the water while they themselves float as if within a painting, enjoying the pleasure of drifting.

Ticket information:

No separate ticket required. Included in the Wuyishan entrance ticket. For rafting, an additional rafting ticket must be purchased. The price for a Nine Bend Stream bamboo raft ride is 100 RMB. Insurance costs 2 RMB per person, with 6 people per raft.

If you wish to have the scenery and legends along the Nine Bend Stream explained during the trip, you may tip the bamboo raft guide—usually 20 RMB per person, plus 2 RMB for insurance. Typically, each raft accommodates 6 people.

Departure times: Xi Village Dock 1: 7:20, 8:30, 9:40, 10:30, 13:20, 14:30; Dock 3: 8:00, 9:50, 13:30. Rafting route: Take a vehicle from the scenic area or downtown to Xi Village Bamboo Raft Dock, board the raft and drift downstream, disembarking at One Bend.

Recommended visiting time: 1.5 hours

Travel tips: It is officially stated that tipping the raft guide is not required; do not believe claims by locals that paying an extra 10 RMB will allow immediate rafting—you still have to queue and buy tickets. Moreover, due to the large number of visitors, individual travelers need not worry about not getting tickets.
