Opened on June 28, 2015, the Hefu High-Speed Railway is an important section of the Beijing-Fuzhou High-Speed Railway. It runs from south to north, passing through three UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Sites: Wuyishan, Huangshan, and Mount Tai—boasting breathtaking scenery, hence its reputation as China’s most beautiful high-speed railway.. The Hefu High-Speed Railway connects Hefei to Fuzhou, extending southward to Xiamen and Shenzhen via the Fuxia High-Speed Railway and Xiamen-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway, and northward to Beijing through the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway. It links major provinces into a seamless travel network. Running at speeds of 300 km/h, the line uses the Harmony series of high-speed trains, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Smoking is prohibited throughout the Harmony train. Tickets can be purchased directly at station ticket counters with valid ID or ordered online. Taiwanese travelers can use their Taiwan Compatriot Permit, while foreigners must present a passport to book tickets. For online bookings, payment must be made in advance before collecting the ticket at the station’s manual counter or authorized sales points. The Hefu High-Speed Railway has four types of seats: second class, first class, special class, and business class, with significant price differences. Fares from Xiamen to Wuyishan East Station are RMB 175, 260, 325.5, and 541.5 (approximate exchange rate: NT$1 = RMB 0.2). Second-class seats have five seats per row (3+2), with seating and space configurations similar to those on Taiwan’s high-speed rail. There are charging ports under the seats, allowing you to use your phone or laptop freely during long journeys without worrying about running out of power—it's an affordable and cost-effective choice.

First-class seats are slightly more spacious than second-class, with four seats per row (2+2), offering more legroom and footrests. The headrests include a neck pillow for added comfort, and the windows also provide better views. Special class seats are not available on every train, making them rarer. They consist of individual seats with private compartments. Business class, though pricey, offers just three seats per row (2+1) across eight rows, providing extremely spacious seating with sofa-like, fully reclining chairs. Free meals are also provided. Due to the comprehensive service, the fare is higher,even jokingly referred to by Chinese netizens as being more expensive than plane tickets.

The Hefu High-Speed Railway stretches from Hefei in the north to Fuzhou in the south with a total of 24 stations. Among the destinations close to Taiwan, Wuyishan is undoubtedly the most prominent World Heritage Site.Within the Wuyishan area, there are two high-speed rail stations: Wuyishan East Station and Wuyishan North Station. East Station has more frequent services but is farther from the scenic area, while North Station has fewer services but is very close to the attractions—you can choose according to your needs.. Travelers from Taiwan can take the “mini three links” route, then transfer to the high-speed rail from Xiamen or Fuzhou to Wuyishan, which is very convenient.
