At noon on the 1st, in the Baiyun Peak area of Wuyishan Scenic Area, a tourist from Guangzhou accidentally fell into a valley more than ten meters deep. After receiving the report, local police and firefighters in Wuyishan rushed to the scene to carry out a rescue operation. It took nearly four hours to carry the injured Wu down the mountain for medical treatment. Wu suffered multiple fractures in his right foot and is currently in stable condition.
It is understood that on that day, a group of 13 tourists from Guangzhou, led by a tour guide, went on an adventure trip to Baiyun Peak in the morning. Since Baiyun Peak is not an officially open scenic route in Wuyishan, and it was raining that day with slippery ground and narrow mountain paths, one of the tourists surnamed Wu slipped and fell more than ten meters down into the valley while climbing near a cliff.
As vehicles could only reach the foot of Baiyun Peak, the rescuers had to walk nearly 8 kilometers along steep mountain paths before they found the injured tourist’s companions at the side of a cliff road on Baiyun Peak. Police involved in the rescue said that after assessing the terrain, they found a small path that led around to the valley. They then made their way down the path to the valley and reached Wu.
“He had multiple injuries all over his body, especially multiple fractures in his right leg, and couldn’t move.” Firefighters and 120 emergency medical personnel who arrived later also descended into the valley with a stretcher. After providing emergency treatment to Wu’s wounds on site, the police and firefighters used the stretcher to carry Wu along the mountainside down the hill. It took them nearly four hours to get him off the mountain.
It is understood that after receiving treatment, Wu is now in stable condition.
