The Eighteen Villages Scenic Area lies between the Wuyishan Nature Reserve and the Wuyishan Scenic Area, on the banks of the Tongmu Stream, the source of the Nine Bend River. It is 20 kilometers from the Wuyishan National Tourist Resort. The site boasts the “No. 1 in East China” Nokeli slide, which is 658 meters long, offering a nostalgic return to childhood fun and a taste of exciting yet safe traditional entertainment. The scenic area features primitive forest valleys, Three Residence Rocks, Tianfu Spring, Qingniu Pass, Laojun Shrine, Heavy Pond, Phoenix Waterfall, Buddha Hall Rock, Monkey Gazing at the Big Dipper, and Sitting Stone Facing the Stream. With its flying springs, cascading waterfalls, serene valleys, dense forests, intertwined vines, rare birds, and unique flowers, it serves as an ideal destination for scientific exploration, adventure, leisure, vacationing, and fitness.

A beautifully composed symphony — ancient trees in the old woods and peculiar rocks complement one another, exuding wild charm. Within the valley are several picturesque spots, with the most outstanding being Puyuan, Qingniu Pass, and Heavy Pond. The paths within the area wind along the river and follow the mountain terrain, featuring certain slopes and a moderate level of difficulty. Eighteen Villages is situated within the Wuyishan Nature Reserve, forming an important part of this UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage site. It boasts exceptionally rich biodiversity, and the reserve is hailed as the “World of Insects,” “Paradise of Birds,” “Kingdom of Snakes,” and “Window on the World’s Biodiversity.”
