Tianyou Peak is located to the north of Liuyu Stream, with its center at an altitude of 408.8 meters and a relative height of 215 meters. It is one of the most representative peaks among the Thirty-Six Peaks of Wuyi and is world-renowned for its stunning scenery. On spring and winter mornings or right after the rain clears, the mountain and valley are often shrouded in vast, white mist. The wind stirs the clouds, making them surge and undulate like the waves of the sea—turbulent and majestic. From the summit, you can gaze out over the ever-changing sea of clouds, feeling as if you've ventured beyond the mortal realm into the heavens, hence the name "Tianyou" (which means "Touring the Heavens"). The famous traveler Xu Xiake once remarked after climbing the peak, “Without even approaching the stream, one can take in the full beauty of the Nine Bend River. This peak truly deserves to be ranked first.”

Tianyou Peak Scenic Area is the most perfectly integrated scenic spot of mountains, water, nature, and culture in Wuyi Mountain. Located at the heart of the entire Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, it covers an area of about 4 square kilometers. Key attractions include the Imperial Tea Garden, Tianzhu Peak, Yunwo (Cloud Nest), Yinping Peak, Shai Bu Rock, Shuiyue Pavilion, Chadong (Tea Cave), Tianyou Peak, Yilan Pavilion, and Tianyou Temple. In addition to its breathtaking natural scenery, it also offers a rare cultural landscape. Here you’ll find tea plantations, academies, and cliff inscriptions—all reflecting the seamless blend of Wuyi Mountain’s natural and cultural heritage.
