Jade Maiden Peak is an iconic attraction of Mount Wuyi, standing at an elevation of 313.1 meters. It is located to the south of the second bend of the Nine Bend Stream (Jiuqu Stream) and got its name because it resembles a graceful, slender maiden standing upright. "A unique peak by the water adorned with flowers, with the delicate beauty and pure skin of a maiden", the spectacular rocks and peaks are truly symbolic of the landscape of Mount Wuyi. The bamboo raft dock on the left bank of the peak is an important boarding and disembarking point for the Nine Bend Stream tour.

Below Jade Maiden Peak lies the clear and emerald-green Bathing Fragrance Pool, which legend says was where the Jade Maiden used to bathe. In the pool, there is a large square-shaped rock inscribed with the characters “Yin Shi” (Seal Stone), which, according to legend, was a love token given to the Jade Maiden by the Great King. On the right side of Jade Maiden Peak is a rock formation called “Lema Rock” (Rein-in-the-Horse Rock), which bears the inscription “Jing Tai” (Mirror Stand) in neat and elegant characters covering an area five zhang square. These characters can be seen from miles away and represent the largest cliff inscription in the Mount Wuyi scenic area.

Located in the second bend, the graceful peak stands by the water as if adorned with flowers, exuding a charming feminine beauty. Viewed from the stream, it looks just like a beautiful and exquisite young maiden.

Transportation

Getting to the Mount Wuyi Scenic Area:

The distance from Wuyishan City to the Mount Wuyi Scenic Area is 15 kilometers. There are regularly stopping tourist shuttle buses along the way, or you may choose a taxi. Within the city, there are three bus stations: Hutao, Ximen, and Nanmen. The bus stations within the scenic area are located at Sangu, Wuyi Palace, and Xincun. Parking lots are available at Wuyi Palace, Jade Maiden Peak, Jiuxi Hotel, Shuiliandong (Water Curtain Cave), Yixiantian (One-Line Sky), Xincun Dock, Yongle Chan Temple, and Lianhua Peak.
