Introduction:

Guadun is a world-renowned site for type specimens of biological species. Over 50 types of vertebrate specimens alone have been collected here, and there are also species named after Guadun, such as the Guadun parrotbill (an endemic species of Wuyi Mountain), Guadun horned toad, and Guadun scale fern. The British Natural History Museum in London houses many biological specimens collected from Guadun, China.

Guadun is not only rich in biodiversity but also boasts enchanting scenery. The Guadun Waterfall, 40 meters high and 6 meters wide, cascades down steep cliffs. It hangs like a curtain, breaks like mist, floats like snow, and plunges into a deep pool with a thunderous roar, the mist dampening clothes. The entire Guadun stretch spans 3.5 kilometers, featuring winding, steep, and serene ancient paths flanked by towering trees with lush foliage that form a natural canopy. In the past, Guadun had three residential areas, divided by altitude into Upper Guadun, Middle Guadun, and Lower Guadun. In Middle Guadun, there is the ruins of an old church built in 1872 by a French priest. While preaching here, the priest also conducted scientific biological expeditions. Later, the church was relocated to Sangang Village's Sangan area in Tongmu.

Here, colorful butterflies flutter, birds chirp softly, and insects buzz. Along the stream, many rare and endangered plants grow naturally, such as the fragrant fruit tree, Huangshan magnolia, tulip tree (shaped like a mandarin jacket, commonly known as "mandarin jacket tree"), and silverbell tree. The area retains intact three-tiered erosion surfaces, making it a sacred mountain and blessed land cherished by biologists and admired by visitors.
