Immortal Palm Peak

Immortal Palm Peak is located in the Sixth Bend. The massive rock forms a single, unified structure with palm-print-like marks on its surface, hence the name. It also resembles lengths of white silk cascading down from the summit, which is why it is also called Sun-Drying Cloth Rock. When the sun sets in the west, the peculiar peak is reflected in the water, as if countless hanging silks are fluttering in the wind, creating an extremely enchanting scene. This peak features many scenic spots and has been designated as part of the Tianyou Scenic Area.

Legend: On one side of Sun-Drying Cloth Rock, there are several deep grooves resembling bright red palm prints. It is said that these were left behind by immortals.

Long ago, the weaver maid in the Ninth Heaven would carry a brocade bag every day, singing as she went to gather multicolored clouds of brocade. She would weave them together with strands of golden and silver threads into luxurious silks and satins, which she then offered to the Queen Mother of the West.

One morning, the Barefoot Immortal, who was responsible for carrying the brocades, arrived at Wuyi Mountain with his load of cloud brocades. Mesmerized by the magical emerald waters and vermilion cliffs, he set down his burden to explore. By the time he heard the heavenly drum signaling the return time, he remembered the brocade but realized, to his dismay, that the silks had been dampened by the morning dew.

So, he shook out the brocades and spread them out to dry on the rock face, where they hung all the way down to the Sixth Bend stream. The immortal smoothed the brocades flat with his hands. Unexpectedly, as the sun climbed high and noon approached, the brocades melted under the intense sunlight and fused into the smooth rock surface. Even the handprints he left while pressing the cloud brocades remained imprinted on the rock.
