Twin Lotus Peaks, located north of the Seven-Turn Stream, stand side by side like twin lotus flowers blooming brilliantly in the clouds. Also known as Drum Peak or Double Breast Peak, they feature the remains of boat coffins, as well as the site of Stone Drum and the Stone Drum Taoist Temple. To the right of the peaks, jutting sharply into the sky, is the highest peak in the scenic area—Three Lifts Peak, standing at an elevation of 717.7 meters.

Legend has it that there is a cave called “Golden Rooster Cave” on the mountainside of Langwang Dry Cliff. It is said that a golden rooster, a divine bird, once lived there. At dawn every day, it would fly to the highest point in the Wuyishan Scenic Area—the summit of Three Lifts Peak—and sing loudly. Its melodious, bright, and stirring morning song echoed continuously through the clear streams, green waters, and red cliffs of the Nine-Bend River, so much so that even the larks dared not sing.

Wherever the golden rooster flew, joy and happiness followed; wherever it sang, there would be bountiful harvests and prosperity for people and livestock. However, a greedy landlord named Zhang Fulang hatched a wicked plan, hoping to capture the rooster and present it to the authorities in exchange for a handsome reward.

After some scheming, he hired stonemasons from outside the area to carve steps along the cliff face. The clever golden rooster had long seen through the greedy landlord’s scheme. Just as the steps were about to reach the cave entrance, it flew off to the Great Storage Peak in the Fourth Bend. Zhang Fulang worked hard for nothing—not even a single feather did he get—and instead left behind a story for future generations to laugh at.
