Sun Cloth Rock is located at the foot of Tianyou Peak on the north side of Liuche Stream in Mount Wuyi. It is a massive cliff face, as sheer as if cut by a knife or axe, standing straight up and down, broad and flat, reaching a height of 400 meters and a width of about 200 meters. Like a gigantic screen, it divides the Mount Wuyi Scenic Area into the southern hill and northern stream areas. In the middle of the rock wall of Sun Cloth Rock, there are streak-like marks resembling human palm prints, with dozens of rows exceeding one zhang (approximately 3.3 meters) in length. Legend has it that these were left by immortals, hence Sun Cloth Rock is also known as "Immortal Palm Peak." Due to years of erosion by flowing water, the rock face is covered with hundreds of smooth water trails. When the setting sun shines on the rock from the west, the streaks become even more distinct. Looking down into the stream, the shadows are submerged in the water, swaying with the ripples, resembling countless black and white snakes wriggling up from the bottom of the stream. On rainy days, rainwater cascades down the straight trails on the cliff top, as if suspended white silk ribbons are hanging from the sky, with thousands of silver dragons dancing — a truly spectacular sight.
