Dayuan Source Ecotourism Area

The Dayuan Source Ecotourism Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The main scenic area of the Wuyishan Dayuan Source Tourist Attraction includes (Huanggangshan Grand Canyon Scenic Area, Longguiyuan Scenic Area, and Water Square). The Dayuan Source Forest Ecotourism Area is located in Dayuan Village, Yangzhuang Township, northern Wuyishan City, situated in the western part of the Wuyishan Nature Reserve, which is part of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve network. With a total area of over 28 square kilometers, it consists of six major landscapes: Huanggangshan Grand Canyon, Ancient Tea Horse Road, Longguiyuan, Taipingyang, Longjing, and Canyon Rafting. The area boasts pristine and stunning natural ecology, a hidden paradise where verdant peaks and crystal-clear waters thrive year-round. It is acclaimed as the “Kingdom of Plants,” “Animal World,” “Natural Oxygen Bar,” and “Water Recreation Paradise.”

The waters of Jiuzhaigou, the waterfalls of Huangguoshu, the fun of Baishuiyang, the monkeys of Mount Emei, and the red hues of Jinggangshan — all are fitting descriptors for Dayuan Source. While the scenery of Wuyishan is delicate like a fair maiden, the secluded Dayuan Source resembles a girl next door, always giving off a refreshing vibe.

The Wuyishan Dayuan Source Scenic Area is the Jiuzhaigou of southeastern China and the Baishuiyang of northern Fujian. The waters here radiate warmth and harmony with nature, creating a blissful atmosphere. The scenic area’s unique rock ball formation is rarely seen elsewhere in the country. Longguiyuan Scenic Area, part of the Wuyishan Dayuan Source Tourist Attraction, lies within the Wuyishan National Nature Reserve. As soon as you step into the area, you’ll feel the air become instantly fresher, thanks to its exceptionally high negative ion content — earning it the title “Natural Oxygen Bar.”

Huanggangshan Grand Canyon is hailed as the largest waterfall in East China. Strolling along this landscape painting of a canyon, visitors become one with nature — looking up at green mountains, reaching out to touch foliage, listening to birdsong and flowing streams, and reaching down to touch the clear water. The unspoiled ecological environment offers a soothing and unforgettable experience.

Water Square is a paradise in summer. Formed 140 million years ago, it features a massive granite bed that extends underwater and connects with surrounding mountain formations. Visitors can swim and enjoy the water or rent rubber rafts to paddle and play.

Visiting Taipingyang to see monkeys is also a great choice — just be sure to bring your own snacks, or the monkeys might ignore you. The Dayuan Source Scenic Area is richly layered with dense, virgin forests covering its mountainous terrain. These forested barriers shield the area from the outside world, filtering it into an idyllic “hidden paradise.” The villagers live simple, sincere lives and warmly welcome every visitor.
