Jiulongke

Jiulongke is the native habitat of famous tea cultivars and a deep, long valley that leads to Tianxin Rock, the home of “Da Hong Pao.” Commonly known as Dakengkou, the valley is flanked by continuous, undulating cliffs that resemble the shapes of nine dragons. Thus, the valley is likened to the dwelling place of these dragons, hence the name.

Among the nine dragons lies a small, slightly round-topped peak called Longzhu (Dragon Pearl), which is why it is also known as Jiulong Xiuzhu (Nine Dragons Playing with a Pearl). A stone path winds through the serene valley. Lined with streams that flow year-round, lush green tea terraces, and intoxicating fragrances, the scenery is tranquil and beautiful. Along the valley exit, the flat rock walls are engraved with cliff inscriptions, including “Wan Gan Hou” and poems about Wuyi Rock Tea by historical figures.

Jiulongke is the heart of the Da Hong Pao scenic area, where six mother trees of Da Hong Pao grow on the innermost cliff face. The area features a canyon landscape, flanked by Danxia rock formations, with streams running along the path and tea fields in the valley—offering quite a picturesque scene.
