Wulong Pool in Mount Wuyi

Located at the foot of Dazang Peak, where the Nine-Bend Stream flows through, forming a deep pool. Near the base of the peak by the pool are several cave-like openings that seem to lead endlessly into the unknown. Legend has it that in ancient times, an evil dragon and its nine offspring once occupied this pool, causing great mischief. They were later slain by the immortal Xu Jingyang, but one young dragon chose to follow the immortal and stayed in the pool to protect Mount Wuyi—thus the name Wulong Pool, or "Reclining Dragon Pool." The pool’s waters are a deep blue, with white clouds mirrored on its surface. The gentle murmur of the stream fills the air, and the unfathomable depth of the pool holds mysterious allure and hidden wonders. The Song Dynasty Taoist master Bai Yuchan wrote in a poem: “A misty breeze rises under starlit skies, as white cranes alight on emerald pines. A cold moon drifts above as an iron flute is played, its single note awakening the dragon of the jade pool.”
