Donghu Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Wuyishan City is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

Dongxi Reservoir in Wuyishan City is located in the northern suburbs of the city, 7 kilometers from downtown, 11 kilometers from Wuyishan International Airport, and 22 kilometers from the Wuyishan Scenic Area. The reservoir covers 18,700 mu of mountainous land and 8,700 mu of water area, serving multiple functions such as flood control, power generation, and tourism development.

The reservoir enjoys a pleasant climate, with mild winters and cool summers. The average temperature is 27°C, and the daily maximum temperature rarely exceeds 38°C. The lake area features both majestic high mountains and undulating hills. Common migratory birds seen on the lake include water hyacinth, wild ducks, egrets, cormorants, and mandarin ducks.

There are three peninsulas in the lake: Hulu Peninsula, Shuangxi Peninsula, and Kengkou Peninsula; and four bays: Changkeng Bay, Daqi Bay, Lanhua Pit Bay, and Shuangxi Bay, making it an ideal location for comprehensive tourism development. Approximately 2 kilometers north of the lake lies the ancient Ruiyan Temple, which was first built during the Tang Dynasty. It is a grand and active temple and the site where the eminent monk Koubing Gufo passed away. It is one of the earliest renowned temples in Fujian Province.

Dongxi Reservoir boasts picturesque and enchanting scenery. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, it maintains a serene atmosphere and is like a pearl embedded in the land of Wuyi. The vast and tranquil waters inspire endless reverie. Boating in the heart of the lake, you can see several distant mountains partially veiled by drifting clouds, faintly visible; a few fishing boats and a line of egrets. The harmonious blend of mountain and water, all in stunning colors, forms a naturally vibrant and peaceful painting. There are two bus services daily, at 6:30 AM and 2:30 PM, with a round-trip fare of 4 yuan per person.
