Hulushan Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Fujian Province.

Age: Neolithic to Bronze Age

Address: Xijiao Village, Xingtian Town, Wuyishan City

Introduction: Discovered during the Second National Cultural Relics Survey, the site spans an area of about 40,000 square meters. Excavations were first conducted in the 1990s. Between 2014 and 2016, numerous archaeological investigations unearthed various features including tombs, building foundations, kilns, firing pits, ash pits, ash ditches, and postholes, as well as artifacts such as pottery, proto-porcelain, and stone tools from different periods. The site has rich cultural content and a long period of continuity. Its dating ranges from the late Neolithic Age to the Bronze Age, making it an important settlement site from the pre-Qin period in northern Fujian.

Protected Area: East to the earthen road at the foot of Hulushan slope, south to the earthen road at the foot of Hulushan slope, west to the foot of Hulushan slope, north to the cement road from Xijiao Village to Fengpo Village.

In 2018, Hulushan Site was designated as a ninth batch provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Xijiao Village: Located 9 kilometers west of Xingtian Town Government, Xijiao Village administers 8 natural villages, 12 villager groups, 533 households, and 1,924 residents, including 1,335 laborers, of whom 668 work or do business outside the village. The total area of the village is 34,036.4 mu, including 3,540.4 mu of arable land, 760 mu of orchards, and 27,329.5 mu of forest land.

Villagers are mainly engaged in agricultural production, with the dominant industries being rice and tobacco.
