The total area of the township is 473.3 square kilometers.

The highest peak within Yangzhuang Township is Huanggang Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 2,158 meters, making it the tallest peak in the Wuyi Mountain Range. It lies within the territory of the Wuyishan National Nature Reserve. Major passes in the area include the Fujian–Jiangxi border crossings of FenShui Pass, Wenling Pass, LiaoZhu Pass, and Guanyin Pass.
