Gongqing Building

Gongqing Building is situated in the eastern part of Chuxi Village. This hexagonal earthen building was built in 1949, faces south and sits north, covering an area of approximately 3,500 square meters. It is 40 meters wide and 31 meters deep, has four stories, and is higher at the rear than at the front. The building includes 152 rooms and halls, with four staircases and one main entrance. It has an interior corridor design. The corridors on the third and fourth floors extend further than those on the second floor. The ancestral hall is located in the center of the inner courtyard and is a single-story brick-and-wood structure.

Chuxi Village: Chuxi Village is under the jurisdiction of Xiayang Town, Yongding County, Fujian Province, bordering Luxi Town, Pinghe, Zhangzhou. It is 15 kilometers away from Xiayang Town. Chuxi Village is named after its location upstream of the Chuxi River, hence originally called “Crude Creek Village.” Nestled among green mountains and surrounded by clear waters, the village is flanked by verdant pine and bamboo-covered hills, with terraced fields layered behind the buildings. The Chuxi Earthen Building Cluster consists of five round buildings and dozens of square ones. These structures are nestled against the hills and by the water, arranged in a well-spaced and harmonious layout that showcases high aesthetic and artistic value.
