Fanqing Building

Fanqing Building is located in the central part of Chuxi Village, south of Jiqing Building. It is a rectangular earthen building constructed in 1949, facing south with an area of approximately 8,000 square meters. The building has four stories, higher at the front and lower at the back, measuring 40.7 meters in width with 11 bays, and 35.4 meters in depth with 10 bays, featuring an interior corridor layout. The first and second floors have no windows. The ancestral hall is located in the middle of the inner courtyard, single-story, square-shaped, lower at the front and higher at the back. The entire building has four staircases, one main gate, and two wells.

Chuxi Village: Chuxi Village is under the jurisdiction of Xiayang Town, Yongding County, Fujian Province, bordering Luxi Town, Pinghe County, Zhangzhou. It is 15 kilometers away from Xiayang Town. Chuxi Village is situated upstream of the Chuxi River, hence its name (originally written as 粗溪, meaning “rough stream”). Nestled among green mountains and surrounded by clear waters, the village features lush pines and bamboos on the hillsides and terraced fields behind the buildings. The Chuxi Tulou Cluster consists of five round buildings and dozens of square ones. They are nestled against the mountains and near the water, arranged in a well-spaced and harmonious layout, showcasing high aesthetic and artistic value. Among them, Jiqing Building is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, the oldest existing tulou in Yongding (dating back to the Zhengde era of the Ming Dynasty), and also the most uniquely structured (with 72 staircases)...
