Kunya Agricultural Eco-Tourism Garden
Kunya Agricultural Eco-Tourism Garden is a National AAA-level Tourist Attraction.
Longyan Yongding District Kunya Agricultural Tourism Co., Ltd. was established in July 2012. It is located in Shangchuan Village, Xiayang Town, Yongding District, adjacent to the Chuxi Tulou Cluster of Fujian Yongding Scenic Area—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction—just 2 kilometers from the scenic area and 15 kilometers from the Xiayang exit of the Putian–Yongding Expressway.
After thorough research and investigation, the company selected a site 2 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage Site—the Chuxi Tulou Cluster. Xiayang Town has a subtropical maritime monsoon climate, characterized by mild weather, evergreen surroundings, and predominantly southeast winds. Summers are long but not excessively hot, with sunny, hot weather and abundant sunshine; winters are short without severe cold, featuring lower temperatures, less rainfall, lower humidity, and dry air. According to historical temperature records, the annual average temperature is 20°C, with 1,907 hours of annual sunshine and a frost-free period of 330 days. The highest temperature of the year reaches 33.4°C in June, while the average lowest temperature in January is 6.1°C. The average annual rainfall is 1,690 mm, typically ranging between 1,400 and 1,800 mm in most years. The wet and dry seasons are distinct. Rainfall trends seasonally, increasing from January to June, peaking in June, decreasing in July, then rising significantly again in August. This meets the environmental conditions for growing non-polluting tropical fruits as outlined in NY5023-2002. The scenic spot is located within the beautiful Changlong Natural Village of Shangchuan Village, where Kunya Agricultural Tourism Garden was invested and built. The air quality meets the Grade I standards specified in GB3095-1999; ambient noise quality complies with the standards set in GB3096-1993; and surface water quality meets the requirements of GB3838-2002. Situated along the tourist road from Xiayang Town to the Chuxi Tulou Cluster, this project provides a new eco-tourism attraction for Xiayang Town and greatly benefits the development of local tourism. The company’s mission: Ecological agriculture is a sustainable production model for agriculture. Scientifically developing ecological agriculture and further strengthening its construction is not only the essential path to ensure the sustained, stable, and healthy development of agriculture and the modernization of China’s agricultural sector, but also a lasting endeavor that benefits future generations. The company aims to develop distinctive, high-quality agriculture, improve the modern agricultural industry system, promote premium, efficient, ecological, safe agriculture, and advance the integration of agriculture with secondary and tertiary industries. It also seeks to accelerate the development of new, uniquely valuable varieties with significant application potential, promote the construction of high-quality seed breeding bases, and establish a strong, modern seed industry supported by science popularization, benefit-driven training, and service centers.
I. Company Overview:
The company plans to develop an agro-tech eco-tourism garden that cultivates unique and high-quality fruit varieties from Taiwan, as well as organic, pollution-free, soilless vegetables. It integrates fruit and vegetable picking, sightseeing, leisure vacations, Chinese herbal medicine planting, wellness retreats, health preservation, and outdoor expansion activities. With a philosophy centered on environmental protection, green practices, organic farming, and health, the garden uses ecological agriculture as an effective medium for tourism, sightseeing, and leisure. Through agricultural sightseeing, fruit and vegetable picking, demonstrations of modern agricultural technology, agricultural science education, and outdoor expansion experiences such as rural life for school children and youths, the garden organically combines agriculture with tourism to create a unique and personalized travel experience.
II. Construction Scale and Objectives:
1. Construction Scale:
The company places great importance on the planning of the ecological agriculture tourism project. It has engaged multiple experts from the Lishui Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Zhejiang Province and relevant departments to conduct research and construct the garden according to ecological agriculture models, ensuring scientific and rational planning.
The total planned land area is 550 mu, with an investment of 120 million yuan, to be developed in three phases. The first phase covers 140 mu, with an investment of 20 million yuan, including the construction of a flood control dike, a water-retaining dam, a steel-frame grape garden, a pitaya greenhouse, a garden sightseeing corridor, a smart soilless “Nest” greenhouse for vegetables, and a reception center building (office building). Crops introduced from Taiwan such as pitaya, grapes, jaboticaba, wax apples, guavas, longan, and perfume lemons will be planted.
The second phase covers 180 mu with an investment of 40 million yuan, including the construction of 17 waterfront leisure wooden cabins, a 1,700 m² multi-functional waterfront training and technology building, a 4,000 m² glass smart greenhouse with integrated water and fertilizer systems for vegetables, Chinese herbal medicine planting, outdoor expansion activities, and a 2.5-meter-wide tourist wooden boardwalk.
The third phase covers 230 mu with an investment of 60 million yuan, including the construction of a circular tulou-style greenhouse with a diameter of 100 meters and a height of 24 meters (for off-season fruits and vegetables, lodging, and dining), as well as adult wellness and health activity centers, leisure clubs, and unique waterfront tourism facilities to support sightseeing and tourism.
2. Construction Objectives:
The project is based on ecological agriculture, guided by market demand, supported by science and technology, and focused on economic benefits. It aims to develop high-efficiency, low-consumption, non-polluting, and pollution-free fruits and vegetables through comprehensive ecological agriculture development and industrialized operations. This will achieve sustained and stable growth in agricultural production and increase income for surrounding farmers, attaining an organic unity of ecological, economic, and social benefits. The goal is to establish an ecological agriculture tourism garden integrating comprehensive agricultural development and production and management functions.
III. Purpose of Building an Agricultural Leisure Tourism Garden:
The primary purpose of the tourism garden is to implement a sustainable development strategy in agricultural production, accelerate the path to prosperity for surrounding farmers, and further drive economic development and social progress. Constructing and developing leisure agriculture not only offers new activity spaces for tourism and relieves urban population pressure during holidays but also protects rural ecological environments and increases the utilization efficiency of rural land. Developing sightseeing agriculture transforms traditional agricultural patterns, accelerates the scientific and technological management of farming, promotes the production of green food and specialty crops, meets the public’s demand for pollution-free food, enhances the market competitiveness of Yongding District’s agricultural products, and achieves dual benefits from agricultural tourism. It also raises the green coverage rate in urban-rural fringe areas, drives environmental governance in surrounding villages, and accelerates village appearance improvement projects. Additionally, the introduction and application of pollution-free agricultural product production technologies will lead to fresher air, more beautiful environments, improved macroclimates, and the promotion of positive ecological cycles. The garden will supply the market with pollution-free vegetables and fruits. Leisure tourism enriches the supply of agricultural products, creates numerous employment opportunities for surplus rural labor, adjusts agricultural structure and economic efficiency, revives ethnic culture, promotes folk culture, and enhances the spiritual living standards of residents.
