Tianhou Temple in Fushi is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Tianhou Temple in Fushi is located in Sheqian Village, Fushi Town, Yongding District, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Originally built in the 50th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1785), it has undergone several renovations. The temple faces northeast and is situated southwest, covering a land area of 2,420 square meters with a construction area of 1,296 square meters. It features a single-story earthen-and-timber structure with two courtyards, three sections, two side halls, and four skylights. The central axis, running from east to west, includes in sequence: a screen wall, courtyard, central gate, entrance hall and theater stage, inner courtyard, central hall, skylight, main hall, rear garden, and rear wall. The wooden frame combines raised-beam and through-tenon construction, topped with hip-and-gable roofs. The beams are adorned with exquisitely gilded wood carvings, and couplets and murals complement each other beautifully.

Protected area: An additional 20 meters outward from all sides of the building.

In 2018, Tianhou Temple in Fushi was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Sheqian Village: Located at the site of the Fushi Town government, Sheqian is traversed by Provincial Highway “Fusan Line.” It lies 30 kilometers from Yongding County, 46 kilometers from Longyan, and 170 kilometers from Xiamen, offering highly convenient transportation and vibrant economic activity. It serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire town. The village has a population of 2,687 across 700 households, comprises two natural villages, and includes 19 villager groups, making it the largest administrative village in Fushi Town.

Sheqian Village has a long history. Originally named Shetan, it was once a barren and wild expanse.
