Shangyang Youyu Building

The Shangyang Youyu Building is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Shangyang Youyu Building is located in Shangyang Village, Gaobei Town, Yongding District, Longyan City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era.

Description: A five-courtyard, mansion-style earthen building constructed during the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1723–1735) and renovated during the Republican period. It covers an area of approximately 4,000 square meters, with a floor space of 2,700 square meters. The building follows a symmetrical dual-axis layout, with each axis consisting of a front hall, side halls, central hall, kitchen, and main building. The main gate is situated on the left side of the building. The entire structure is enclosed by rammed earth walls. The central hall has three bays in width, with green-glazed lattice window screens on both sides of the front eaves corridor. The gable walls use a purlin-supported framework. The main building is four stories high, with a total width of 15 meters, a depth of 11.6 meters, and a height of 15.6 meters, featuring a hip-and-gable roof.

Protective boundary: The area extends 20 meters outward from each side of the building.

In 2018, the Shangyang Youyu Building was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Shangyang Village: Located in the central-southwest part of Gaobei Town, Shangyang Village borders Beishan Village to the east, Xibei Village to the west and south, and Mulin Village to the north. It covers an area of 42,000 square kilometers, has a population of over 3,460, comprises 24 villager groups, includes 131 Party members, has one complete elementary school, and established a village senior association in 1989. It is a village with a large population but limited arable land and no resource-based economy.
