Former Site of the Yongding District Committee of the CPC – Jinsha Public School

The Former Site of the Yongding District Committee of the CPC – Jinsha Public School is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Former Site of the Yongding District Committee of the CPC – Jinsha Public School is located on the former campus of Jinsha Middle School in Jinsha Township, Yongding District, Longyan City, dating back to 1927.

Description: Built in the second year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1910), the building faces west and covers an area of 880 square meters. It has two floors, an open corridor, a staircase on the southern side, and a gable-and-hip roof. In front of the building is a rain courtyard, with walls and a semicircular arched gate. On October 25, 1927, under the chairmanship of Luo Qiutian, the first representative conference of the Yongding District Committee of the CPC was held at Jinsha Public School, attended by more than 20 delegates. The Yongding District Committee of the CPC was established at this meeting, with Luo Qiutian as secretary, and Luo Qiutian, Zhang Dingcheng, and Lu Zhaoxi serving as standing committee members.

Protected area: East to the mountaintop, west to 50 meters outside the perimeter wall, south to the exterior wall of the middle school comprehensive building, north to the small stream.

In 2018, the Former Site of the Yongding District Committee of the CPC – Jinsha Public School was announced by the People's Government of Fujian Province as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units.

Jinsha Township: Located 6 kilometers west of Yongding County’s county seat, Jinsha Township in Yongding County neighbors Fengcheng Town and Xixi Township to the east, Chengjiao Township to the south, Xianshi Township to the west, and Hexi as well as the border area between Shentian Town of Shanghang and Shanghang County to the north. Provincial Highway 309 runs through the township, making it the western gateway of Yongding. It is a renowned revolutionary base area and the birthplace of the “Yongding Uprising.” It is also where Fujian’s first Red Army unit, the district Soviet government, and the Yongding County Committee of the CPC were founded.
