Former Site of the Central Red Transportation Route

The Former Site of the Central Red Transportation Route is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The historical remains of the Central Soviet Area's Red Transportation Route are located in Xinan Village, Hexi Township, and Taokeng Village, Chengjiao Town, Yongding District, Longyan City; Bisha Village, Baisha Town, and Dayangba Village, Xikou Township, Yuantian Village, Taibo Town, Baisha County; Laifang Village, Tufang Town, Shangjie Village, Hetian Town, and Nanmen Street, Tingzhou Town, Changting County. These sites date back to the years 1930–1934.

Description: The Central Soviet Area's Red Transportation Route was a vital secret passage established during the Agrarian Revolutionary War. It connected the CPC Central Committee in Shanghai with the Central Soviet Area in western Fujian and southern Jiangxi, passing through Shanghai, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Hong Kong. Its primary functions included transporting military supplies, escorting party, government, military leaders, artists, and technical professionals, as well as relaying important letters and intelligence between the CPC Central Committee in Shanghai and the Central Soviet Area. Within Fujian, the route traversed areas such as Yongding, Shanghang, and Changting. Key former sites include Shijian Building and Mengliang Ancestral Hall in Yongding District, Bogsha Ding Zhengchang Shop, the former site of the Yuantian Township Government and the Soviet Government, and the former site of the Dayangba Red Transportation Station in Shanghang County, as well as Chunsheng Ancestral Hall, the former site of the CPC Changting County Committee, and the former site of the Fujian Provincial Postal Administration in Changting County.

Protection area: For the former residences of Mao Zedong (Shijian Building) and Zhou Enlai (Mengliang Ancestral Hall): 50 meters outward from the perimeter of the buildings. For other sites: 20 meters outward from the perimeter of the buildings.

In 2018, the historical remains of the Central Soviet Area's Red Transportation Route were designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Xinan Village: Xinan Village is the town center of Hexi Township, with 344 households and a population of 1,404. It has 16 villager groups, covering a cultivated area of 2,317 mu, including 2,310 mu of paddy fields. The main crop is rice. The village has 47 Party members, including 7 female members. In 2011, the per capita net income was 4,554 yuan.
