The former site of the Third Branch of the Peng-Yang Military and Political School (Hanjie Building) is a cultural relic protection unit of Yongding District.

The former site of the Third Branch of the Peng-Yang Military and Political School (Hanjie Building) is located in Huxi Village, Hugang Town, dating back to 1930.

The former site of the Third Branch of the Peng-Yang Military and Political School is located at Hanjie Building in Huxi Village, Hugang Town. Built in the early years of the Republic of China, it covers an area of 1,500 square meters. The square-shaped, earthen-and-wood structure faces east and sits west, standing four and a half stories high, with six rooms, one hall, and one staircase per floor. It features a flush-gable roof with purlins supported by gable walls. In early 1930, the Western Fujian Red Army School was officially established. In May 1930, it was renamed the First Branch of the Chinese Red Army Officers' School. By the end of 1930, it was relocated to Dachi and renamed the Second Branch of the Peng-Yang Military and Political School. In spring 1931, it moved to Hugang and was renamed the Third Branch of the Peng-Yang Military and Political School, housed in Hanjie Building in Huxi. Xiao Jingguang served as the school’s principal, and Zhang Dingcheng as the political commissar.

Construction control zone: Extend 15 meters outward from the boundary line of the protected area.

Huxi Village: Huxi Village currently has a population of 4,450, comprising 38 villager groups and a total of 1,300 households. The village spans a total land area of 15.6 square kilometers, including 16,800 mu of forested land with a forest coverage rate of 71%, and 2,780 mu of arable land. The area is home to the famous Mangdangyang Scenic Area and the Red Scarf Reservoir. It is an important part of Western Fujian’s Red Land and was once the site of over 40 government and military institutions, including the Western Fujian–Guangdong–Jiangxi Special Committee, the Military Region Headquarters, the Third Branch of the Military and Political School, the Western Fujian Soviet Government, the Workers’ and Peasants’ Bank, and the Lenin Normal School.
