The Site of the Former Prisons of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian (Dunmu Hall) is a cultural relic protection unit of Yongding District.

The Site of the Former Prisons of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian (Dunmu Hall) is located in Huxi Village, Hugang Town, dating back to 1930.

The Site of the Former Prisons of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian (Dunmu Hall), located in Hubei Village, Hugang Town, was built in the early years of the Republic of China, covering an area of approximately 800 square meters. It is square-shaped, with an earth-and-wood structure, facing east and situated westward. The site is 40 meters wide in facade and 20 meters deep, divided into two sections, with a four-story building, six rooms and one staircase per floor. It features a hip-and-gable roof with purlins supported by gable walls. The walls above the second floor still retain numerous slogans written by the Red Army. In December 1930, after the fall of Longyan City, Party, government, military, legal, economic, and cultural institutions including the Special Committee of the Communist Party of China in Western Fujian, and the Soviet Government of Western Fujian, relocated to Hugang on December 15, 1930. Due to the influence of Li Lisan’s “Left” deviationist line and Wang Ming’s “Left” adventurism, in early 1931, the Suppression Committee of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian was established in Hugang. Some leaders and soldiers of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian were mistakenly identified as members of the “Social Democratic Party” and were imprisoned at the Louzixia Building in Huxi. On July 15, 1931, the Suppression Committee of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian was disbanded, and the Political Security Office of the Soviet Government of Western Fujian was established, which was located at the Jixiang Building in Huxi, with Guo Dirén serving as its head.

Huxi Village: Huxi Village currently has a population of 4,450, comprising 38 villager groups, with a total of 1,300 households. The village covers a total land area of 15.6 square kilometers, including 16,800 mu of forestland with a forest coverage rate of 71%, and 2,780 mu of arable land. The area features the famous Mangdangyang Scenic Area and the Red Scarf Reservoir, among others. It is an important part of the Red Land of Western Fujian and was once the site of over 40 government and institutional units, including the Special Committee of the Min-Yue-Gan Border Region, the Military Region Headquarters, the Third Branch of the Military-Political School, the Soviet Government of Western Fujian, the Workers’ and Peasants’ Bank, and the Lenin Normal School.
