General Liao Chengmei’s Ancestral Home (Shangjing Chengyin Building) is a cultural heritage site protected at the district level in Yongding.

General Liao Chengmei’s Ancestral Home (Shangjing Chengyin Building) is located in Shangjing Village, Hongshan Township, and dates back to the second year of the Xuantong era (1910).

General Liao Chengmei’s Ancestral Home (Shangjing Chengyin Building) is located in Shangjing Village, Hongshan Township, and was built in the second year of the Xuantong era (1910). It is square-shaped, made of earth and wood, faces west with its back to the east, with a total width of 14.8 meters, an overall depth of 21.3 meters, covering a floor area of 315 square meters. The main structure is a single-courtyard corridor-style building with a front porch. The central axis runs from west to east, successively featuring a rain courtyard, main gate, entrance hall, courtyard, and the main building. The building has two stories, with an interior corridor, a hanging hip roof, and gable walls supporting the rafters. General Liao Chengmei (September 9, 1916 – December 25, 2001), originally named Liao Fulai, was adopted by Liao Zhenxun in his childhood and later raised and educated in private school by his fifth uncle (Liao Xingwu). He joined the revolution in 1933, enlisted in the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army in 1935, and joined the Communist Party of China the same year. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he served as Deputy Political Commissar of the Artillery of the East China Military Region, Political Commissar of the Senior Artillery Technical School and the Artillery Engineering Academy, Commander of the Second Artillery Base, and Deputy Commander of the Second Artillery Force. He was awarded the rank of Major General in 1955 and received the Second Class August 1st Medal, the Second Class Independence and Freedom Medal, and the First Class Liberation Medal. He was also a delegate to the 9th and 10th National Congresses of the Communist Party of China. On December 25, 2001, General Liao Chengmei passed away in Beijing due to illness.
