Former Site of the Héxī Cǎidì Transportation Station (Wáng Family Ancestral Hall)
The former site of the Héxī Cǎidì Transportation Station (Wáng Family Ancestral Hall) is a cultural relic protection unit of Yongding District.
The former site of the Héxī Cǎidì Transportation Station (Wáng Family Ancestral Hall) is located in Cǎidì Village, Héxī Township, dating back to 1929.
The Wáng Family Ancestral Hall in Héxī Cǎidì, located in Cǎidì Village, Héxī Township, was originally built during the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1487). It is square-shaped, built with earth and wood, faces northeast while sitting southwest, has a total width of 20.4 meters, an overall depth of 16.3 meters, covers a land area of 332.5 square meters, and has a building area of 120 square meters. The main structure is a single-courtyard corridor-style building with a front porch and a right-side wing room. The central axis from northeast to southwest includes an ancient path, enclosing wall, crescent-shaped pond, rain courtyard, front hall, central courtyard, and main hall. It is a single-story building with a hip-and-gable roof and a post-and-lintel wooden frame. In 1929, Mao Zedong, using the alias Mr. Yang, along with the vanguard of the Fourth Red Army, set off from Tángbǎo Jūyì Building on their way to Shījiǎn Building in Héxī. When passing by the Wáng Family Ancestral Hall in Cǎidì Village, they stopped in for a short rest. The villagers of Cǎidì, rarely encountering outsiders, gathered curiously around them. Seizing the opportunity, Mao planted the seeds of revolution — advocating for "overthrowing the landlords and distributing the land" — and promoted the ideals and principles of the Party. On the spot, two local young men, Wáng Tàiróng (Yōng) and Wáng Wànróng (Yōng) brothers, signed up to join the Red Army, and soon followed Mr. Yang to Héxī and Shàngzhàng. Because the Wáng Family Ancestral Hall is located at the foot of the mountain on the only route from Tángbǎo to Héxī and sits in the center of the village, making it convenient for secrecy, it later became an intelligence relay station for Héxī Cǎidì.
