The Gaochi Shenyi Memorial Archway

The Gaochi Shenyi Memorial Archway is located on the westernmost side of Dongmen Middle Street in Nanzhao Town. Built in the 30th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1602), it faces east–west and is constructed from granite in imitation of wooden architecture. It stands 9.6 meters tall and 9.5 meters wide, featuring a single-eave hip-and-gable roof combined with double slopes, and is composed of three tiers and three bays. At the top hangs a plaque inscribed with the characters "Enrong" (Imperial Grace), while the central plaque reads "Gaochi Shenyi" (Memorial Archway of Imperial Decree)

...The plaque for the memorial archway is inscribed with "Erected in honor of Shen Yili, Imperially Bestowed as an Upright Gentleman, Prefectural Magistrate, and Acting Prefect." Those who sponsored the construction of the archway included: Zhu Jianchang, the Imperial Commissioner in charge of military affairs and concurrently Governor of Fujian, and Regional Inspector of the Fujian Circuit Tribunal; Liu Yinglong, Surveillance Censor of Fujian; Wang Enmin, Provincial Administration Commissioner of the Fujian Bureau of Civil Affairs; Yang Dezheng, Surveillance Commissioner of the Fujian Tribunal; Luo Liangxin, Tao Gongsheng, acting Prefects of Zhangzhou Prefecture; Li Ying, Ji Gai, Deputy Prefects; Wang Shiren, Judicial Commissioner; and Li Tianzuo, Magistrate of Zhao'an County. The stone pillars are adorned with drum-shaped bases. The bracket sets are of the "one-bracket-three-jacks" style. The archway is carved with designs such as pine and crane, floral patterns, and cloud motifs. Although some plaques and components have been lost, the main structure remains well preserved.

It has also been designated as a provincial-level "Civilized Town," "Key Commercial Town," and "Ecological Township." The town currently covers an area of 17.5 square kilometers, with a planned area of 36.7 square kilometers. It governs 15 communities and 2 administrative villages, with a total population of approximately 81,000. In 2015, the total rural economic income was 261.11 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 14,000 yuan.
