Dawushan Scenic Area is a national-level forest park.

Wushan Mountain is located in the north of the government seat of Hongxing Township, Zhao’an County, Fujian Province, to the east of Beizhe Village. It borders Yunxiao County to the east and connects to Pinghe’s Daqin Mountain to the north, lying within the territory of Guanbei Town as well as Hongxing and Jinxing Townships. It is over a hundred kilometers from Shantou City and just over two hours’ drive from Xiamen, giving it a notable geographical advantage. The mountain is named Wushan because its surface appears blackish in color. Its main peak stands at an elevation of 1,050.6 meters, surrounded by steep and precipitous terrain that stretches from north to south. It extends 45 kilometers from north to south and 20 kilometers from east to west, covering an area of approximately 900 square kilometers. The geology consists of smooth granite and rhyolite formations exposed during the Yanshan period. The main vegetation includes pine and mixed woods, with a coverage rate of 55%. From 1934 to 1949, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and guerrilla forces were active in the Wushan area, where they established revolutionary bases. The region successively served as the headquarters of the Minyue Border Region Special Committee and the Southern Fujian Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and it is one of the major revolutionary holy sites in the Minyue border area.

Wushan is towering and majestic, steep and serpentine, with jagged cliffs, perilous passes, deep caves, and pleasant scenery. It embodies the grandeur of Mount Tai, the precipitous beauty of Mount Hua, the misty allure of Mount Heng, and the refreshing coolness of Mount Emei—features that are truly rare in the Minyue border region. Near its 1,050-meter-high summit, amidst the rugged mountains and sheer cliffs, there are abundant blackish granite and rhyolite formations, scattered with numerous towering rocks. There is the so-called “Number One Giant Rock in Southeast China,” known as Dragon Bed Rock, which can accommodate up to 2,000 people, unfathomably deep stone wells, as well as naturally formed rock caves stacked with massive boulders. There are also deep, winding natural stone tunnels stretching several or even dozens of kilometers. Clusters of cliffs, hidden valleys, deep caves, and vast chasms, along with overlapping mountain ridges shrouded in persistent month-long fog, form a major highlight of Wushan. The mountain is covered with azaleas that bloom red across the hillsides, while golden cherry blossoms bloom early in spring, their purity surpassing even jasmine.

Hongxing Township: Hongxing Township is located in the central-northern part of Zhao’an County and is a mountainous area. It is about 26 kilometers from the county seat. To the northeast it borders Yunxiao County, to the southeast lies Jinxing Township, to the west connects to Taiping Town, to the south it neighbors Xitan and Jianshe townships, and to the north it links with Guanbei Town. To the northeast, it is backed by the Wushan Mountain range, covering an area of 131 square kilometers. Hongxing Township is the core area of both the “China’s Home of Qingmei (Plum)” and “China’s Strait Selenium Capital.” The township governs eight administrative villages and seven work zones, with a total population of 16,259.

In the Ming Dynasty, Hongxing Township was part of the 11th Diagram of the 2nd District.
