Qixian An is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Era: Qing Dynasty

Location: Meishan Village, Meizhou Township, Zhao’an County

Introduction: Qixian An was originally the place where seven scholars—Chen Jingsu, Weng Shiju, Wu Dacheng, Zheng Rou, Xue Jing, Yang Di, and Yang Shixun—lived in seclusion and gave lectures during the 20th year of the Shaoxing era (1150) of Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty. In the 22nd year of the Jiajing era (1543) of the Ming Dynasty, the Provincial Education Commissioner of Fujian posthumously honored these seven individuals as local sages and built a shrine on the former lecture site for later generations to worship and commemorate them. It later became known as Qixian An. The building was renovated in the 18th year of the Jiaqing era (1813) of the Qing Dynasty. It faces west to east, has two courtyards and one entry, with a row of wing rooms on each side. It has a mixed raised-beam and through-tenon structural style and a flush-gable roof.

Protected area: East to the temple courtyard, west to the slope protection, south to the slope protection, north to the gable wall of Shiliu Temple.

In 2009, Qixian An was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Meishan Village: Located to the south of Meizhou Township, Meishan Village borders Jianshan Mountain to the east, the inner lake of Gangkoudu Harbor to the west, Liankou Village of Sidu Town to the south, and Meinan Village to the north. The village has 298 households, a population of 1,235, and 3 villager groups. The total area of agricultural land is 2,854 mu, including 898 mu of cultivated land, 456 mu of orchards, 800 mu of forestland, and 700 mu of aquaculture water surface. The villagers mainly engage in crop farming, with some involved in freshwater aquaculture. In 2011, the per capita income was 5,850 yuan.
