Longtan Ancestral Temple

Longtan Ancestral Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Longtan Ancestral Temple is located in Chenlong Village, Xiuzhuan Town, Zhao'an County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Facing east and situated west, it consists of a gate tower, a pond, a front hall, a main hall, a rear hall, corridors over water, and wing rooms, covering a construction area of 1,240 square meters. The front hall is nine bays wide and two bays deep, while the main hall is seven bays wide and three bays deep, both featuring raised-beam and through-tenon style frameworks with hip-and-gable roofs; the rear hall is seven bays wide and three bays deep, with a through-tenon framework and a hip-and-gable roof. The ancestral temple has an intact structure, grand scale, exquisite carvings, and deep historical connections with Taiwan.

In 2013, Longtan Ancestral Temple was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: Extends 25 meters east and west from the temple, 40 meters south, and 15 meters north.

Chenlong Village: Located at the center of Xiuzhuan Town, Chenlong Village has limited land but a large population, making it the most populous village in the town, with a total of 6,714 residents. The village has 44 Party members, 32 groups, and 23 natural villages. It features extensive mountainous areas and over 1,600 mu of arable land. The main sources of income for villagers are migrant work, with some at home earning through tea, plum, persimmon cultivation, and breeding of breeding sows. With a long history and civilized rural culture, the village has many tulou (earthen buildings), where people and livestock live together within these communal structures.
