Zuande Hall

Zuande Hall is a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province.

Zuande Hall is located on Datong Middle Road, Huafeng Town, Hua’an County, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Introduction: Also known as the Ancestral Hall of the Six Officials, it was first built in the ninth year of the Hongzhi reign of the Ming Dynasty (1496), and underwent renovations in the sixth year of the Longqing reign (1572) during the Ming Dynasty and during the mid-Qing period. The building faces west and covers an area of approximately 1,048 square meters, with a floor space of about 995 square meters. It consists of a front hall, side corridor rooms, and the main hall. The front hall follows the design of a ceremonial gate, featuring a recessed central bay with a front porch, while the secondary bays have carved floral and figure designs on the upper parts of the corner pillars. The main hall has a mixed post-and-lintel and beam-frame wooden structure with a flush-gable roof. The beams retain colored paintings from the Qing Dynasty. The main ridge is an open-style ridge, with ceramic flower-patterned bricks installed in the center, and Qing Dynasty ridge ornaments preserved inside the ridge fillings.

Protected area: A 20-meter buffer zone extends outward from all sides of the building.

In 2018, Zuande Hall was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

The town administers 17 administrative villages (Yinhe, Huafeng, Mianliang, Yanping, Hudi, Caoban, Xiaban, Luoxi, Chixi, Gaoshi, Banlingting, Xiatian, Banshan, Liangpu, Dayan, Shangxue, Qinling) and 4 community neighborhood committees, with a total population of 39,000 and a land area of 199.4 square kilometers.
