The Shiliang Earth City Ruins are a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Shiliang Earth City Ruins

The ruins are rectangular in shape and situated on high ground. Covering a total area of approximately 27,000 square meters, the site is scattered with a large number of pottery shards and bricks, dating from the Shang, Zhou, Han, Six Dynasties, Tang, and Song dynasties. Intact pottery items have been unearthed near the site. In 1961, a provincial cultural relics team conducted an on-site survey. The Tianchang County Annals from the Ming Dynasty’s Jiajing era recorded: “Thirty li to the west of the county lies Shiliang City, located south of the river. It was built during the Later Zhou Dynasty when Shiliang Commandery was established, and its ruins still remain.” The Shiliang City site was originally a settlement from the Shang Dynasty and later became a city during the Later Zhou Dynasty. The site has never been excavated and remains well-preserved. In September 1980, it was designated as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit. In May 1989, it was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit of Anhui Province.
