Hui Guokou Village

Hui Guokou Village is located in Meichang Town, Wuqing District. During the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty (1403–1424), it was established by settlers from southern China. At that time, the area served as a military camp during the northern campaigns of Prince Yan. When the settlers built their homes, they discovered remnants of cooking fires and stove openings left behind by the Yan army, which led to the village being named Hui Guokou (literally “Grey Pot Mouth”) and the name has remained ever since. After the reform and opening-up, through more than 30 years of hard work, the villagers have achieved a prosperous life—living in villas, driving cars, and enjoying annual surpluses, much like city dwellers.

The village now has 485 villas and 117 Western-style residential buildings. Hui Guokou Village’s Golden Pot Ecological Park covers an area of 1,360 acres, including a 500-acre picking garden, an 800-acre ecological sightseeing park, and a 10,000-square-meter exhibition garden. The ecological park mainly features specialty fruit picking facilities, attracting visitors from all over. The 800-acre green plant oxygen bar and the uniquely designed ecological hotel make it an ideal destination for people from big cities to vacation and relax.

In 2008, Hui Guokou Village was honored as a “Beautiful Village in Tianjin” during the “Search for Beautiful Villages” campaign organized by Tianjin TV’s Public Channel, the Tianjin Municipal Tourism Bureau, and the Municipal Agriculture Commission. In 2011, a national leader visited Hui Guokou Village for an inspection. In the same year, the village was recognized by the National Ministry of Agriculture as one of “China’s Most Charming Leisure Villages in 2011.”

Hui Guokou Golden Pot Ecological Park is located 2 kilometers east of Wuqing urban area. The park spans 2,200 acres, including 1,800 acres of greenhouses for fruit picking (1,200 greenhouses), mainly growing peaches, apricots, grapes, and vegetables, available for picking all year round. There is also a 700-acre forested area for free-range chickens, geese, and rabbits. The park features three parks ranging in size from 1,000 acres to 20 acres. This ecological park offers visitors a comprehensive experience including dining, accommodation, fruit picking, sightseeing, fishing, and recreational leisure.
