Suzhou Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Suzhou Martyrs' Cemetery, situated in the northeastern corner of Suzhou City, Anhui Province, was built to honor the outstanding proletarian revolutionary, military strategist, and distinguished anti-Japanese national hero General Peng Xuefeng, as well as the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the city since the New Democratic Revolution. Approved by the provincial Party committee and government, its construction began in 1951 and it was completed and opened to the public in 1959. The cemetery covers an area of 156 mu, with 64% of the area covered in greenery. It is a fully funded public institution.

The main memorial structures, including the white marble statue of Peng Xuefeng, the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, and the Peng Xuefeng Memorial Hall, are arranged along the central axis of the cemetery in a north-south orientation.

The 8-meter-tall white marble statue of General Peng Xuefeng, sculpted under the direction of renowned sculptor Ms. Zou Peizhu, was completed in 1959. The statue is vivid and heroic, vividly portraying the illustrious image of General Peng Xuefeng.

The beautifully designed and grandly scaled Peng Xuefeng Memorial Hall is a group of antique-style buildings with a strong Huizhou architectural style. Covering a construction area of over 1,100 square meters, the name of the hall was inscribed by General Zhang Aiping. The memorial hall is divided into three exhibition halls: the central hall displays the life and achievements of Comrade Xuefeng, featuring hundreds of precious historical photos and various cultural relics and materials that comprehensively and objectively introduce the glorious and combative life of Comrade Peng Xuefeng from different historical periods and perspectives. The east hall is dedicated to the memory of the Huaihai Campaign, while the west hall showcases the deeds of revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Suzhou City since the New Democratic Revolution.

The Suzhou Martyrs' Cemetery has been awarded the title of "National Advanced Unit in the Management of Martyrs' Memorial Buildings" by the State Council, recognized as one of the "Top 100 Patriotic Education Bases in China" by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and designated multiple times by the Anhui Provincial Government as an "Anhui Provincial Patriotic Education Base," "Anhui Provincial Key Martyrs' Memorial Buildings Protection Unit," "Anhui Provincial Advanced Unit for Foreign Reception and Visits," "Anhui Provincial Civil Affairs System Civilized Service Window Unit," an "Anhui Provincial Young Pioneers Education Base for Passing on the National Spirit from Generation to Generation," and an "Anhui Provincial Practice Base for Young Citizens' Moral Development Activities."

Peng Xuefeng (1907–1944), originally named Peng Xiudao, with the childhood name Xinglong, also used the aliases Wang Min and Peng Xuefeng, was from Zhenping, Henan. He was a senior commander and military strategist of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and the New Fourth Army.

Peng Xuefeng began studying and practicing calligraphy with his grandfather at the age of four. As he grew older, he attended the village private school, the county warehouse school, and the Chaoyuan Higher Primary School, graduating from primary school in 1921. At the age of 14, he went alone to Tianjin to join his uncle, who was a teacher, and was admitted to Tianjin Nankai Middle School.
