Xinbian River Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Xinbian River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Xinbian River Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Suzhou City is located in the northern part of the urban area. It was built in conjunction with the Xinbian River management project and is classified as an urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic area. Established in 2012, the Suzhou Xinbian River Water Conservancy Scenic Area stretches from the Beijing-Taipei Expressway in the west to the Suzhou Sluice in the east. The main scenic section is 3.9 kilometers long, covering an area of 220 hectares, and includes one performance square, eight water recreation docks, seven cultural squares, and two children's playgrounds.

The main scenic area follows a "one point, two lines" layout. The "one point" refers to the large iconic sculpture "Voyage," which represents the spirit of the people of Suzhou in water management. The "two lines" refer to both banks of the Xinbian River: the north bank showcases four famous battles that took place in the land of Suzhou and their associated war culture, while the south bank displays the history, humanities, and folk culture of Suzhou. Currently, the area west of Huaihai Road and east of Fuxiao Avenue has been completed, while the section east of Huaihai Road and west of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway is under construction. The Xinbian River Scenic Area has become a comprehensive destination integrating sightseeing, leisure, fitness, entertainment, and tourism.

On August 12, 2016, the Ministry of Water Resources officially approved the area as a national water conservancy scenic area.

Transportation

1. Take city buses No. 2, 3, or 22 to either Delta Ecological Park or Bianhe Scenic Belt Station, or take bus No. 601 to Swan Bay Station to reach the area.

2. Public Bicycles: Multiple public bicycle rental and return points are set up within the scenic area, such as the south gate of Delta Park, west of Swan Bay, north of Delta, Happy Island, Daze Thunder, Fulizhan Soldiers, and Huaihai Gunsmoke, among others. Additionally, Suzhou’s public bicycles support Alipay QR code rentals. If your Ant Credit Pay score is above 600, you can use the bikes free of charge without a deposit. The first 30 minutes of each rental are free, and each additional 30-minute period costs 0.5 RMB, with payments deducted via Alipay.

3. Driving is even more convenient, with large free parking lots available nearby.
