Lin Tanhua Mansion

Lin Tanhua Mansion is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Lin Tanhua Mansion is located in Lin Village, Yangzhuang Township, Suzhou City.

It was the residence of Lin Fangbiao, a military Tanhua (the third-ranking scholar in the imperial martial examination) during the Qing Dynasty. There are still 58 existing rooms, forming a relatively well-preserved architectural complex. The layout, structure, brick carvings, wood carvings, painted decorations, and other features all exhibit typical northern Chinese architectural styles, holding significant artistic and scientific value.

Lin Tanhua Mansion covers an area of 40,000 square meters. In front of the mansion’s gate, there is an open space with four flagpoles standing about 11 meters high, with their bases located on either side of the main gate. The main building consists of a four-courtyard compound, designed as “three bright and five hidden” rooms, and there is also a three-courtyard side complex to the west of the main structure. Behind the main building, there used to be a garden and a fishpond. To the left of the garden was a martial arts training ground, where various weapons were displayed and can be viewed by visitors.

It is about 20 kilometers north of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The transportation is convenient, being 10 kilometers north of the Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway, 15 kilometers west of the Xu-Zhou Expressway, and 10 kilometers from National Highway 206. The Caochu Highway runs across the entire township. The township governs 22 administrative villages, with a population of over 40,000, arable land area of 68,000 mu, and a total area of 72 square kilometers.
