The Former Site of the New Fourth Army Northern Jiangsu Command Headquarters is located in Yanjiayangyuan, Tangchi Town, Lujiang County, Anhui Province. Surrounded by mountains to the southwest, the area features undulating peaks, a strategically important terrain, and picturesque scenery. It served as a gateway westward into the Dabie Mountains. In May 1939, Ye Ting, Commander of the New Fourth Army, Deng Zihui, Director of the Political Department, and others successively arrived in Lujiang from southern Anhui. At the garrison of the Fourth Detachment in northern Jiangsu, Yanjiayangyuan, they established the Northern Jiangsu Command Headquarters of the Newly Organized Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army. The command oversaw the Fourth Detachment, Fifth Detachment, and the Northern Jiangsu Guerrilla Column, with Zhang Yunyi as Commander, Xu Haidong and Luo Binghui as Deputy Commanders, Lai Chuanzhu as Chief of Staff, and Deng Zihui as Director of the Political Department. The headquarters was withdrawn in March 1940. The landscapes of Tangchi are filled with the footprints of General Ye Ting’s battles. Inspired by him, a large number of passionate young people followed him to the front lines of the Anti-Japanese War, making tremendous contributions to the cause of the Chinese people's liberation.
