Monument to the Former Site of the Anhui Working Committee

The Monument to the Former Site of the Anhui Working Committee is a classic site on China’s red tourism routes.

To commemorate the Anhui Working Committee, a Chinese Communist Party organization established in Hefei during the War of Resistance against Japan, in October 1984, the People's Government of Changfeng County and the People's Government of Shou County jointly erected a monument titled “Former Site of the Anhui Working Committee” within the compound of the North Grain Station in Yangmiao Town, Changfeng, at the former site.

The monument is a rectangular stone carving, inlaid between two stone pillars, with a base underneath. The base has four steps along its lower edge and is surrounded by a railing. This former site is a key cultural relic protection unit of Changfeng County and also serves as a patriotic education base for local youth.

Yangmiao Town: Located in the central part of Changfeng County, Yangmiao Town covers an area of 98 square kilometers, with a population of 38,000. The built-up area spans 1.8 square kilometers, housing around 8,000 people. It is one of the key towns in the province’s comprehensive management of the Jianghuai Watershed Divide, a contact point for municipal Party committee organizational development, and a pilot town for comprehensive reform of small towns in Hefei. The town administers 15 administrative villages and 2 neighborhood committees. In recent years, the town has focused on the overall work guideline of “developing industry to revitalize the town, attracting investment to strengthen it, boosting commerce to enrich it, improving the environment to enhance its image, and expanding construction to scale it up.” Emphasis has been placed on industrial development and vigorous efforts in attracting investment, following three key pathways to prosperity for residents.
