Shushan Scenic Area is located in our district, with an elevation of 284 meters. It is not the height of a mountain that matters, but the presence of immortals that brings it to life. The area boasts picturesque scenery and beautiful landscapes in all four seasons. Zhu Xian, the educational commissioner of Lu Prefecture during the Qing Dynasty, once praised Shushan: “The spring mountain is radiant as if smiling, the summer mountain lush and dripping with green, the autumn mountain bright and clear as if freshly made up, and the winter mountain pale and tranquil as if ready to rest—yet in its rest, when the snow clears, its spirit awakens with renewed vitality.” Shushan captivates visitors with its verdant pines and cypresses, exotic flowers, and rare plants spread across the mountainside.

Especially notable are the newly developed attractions in the surrounding foothills, including an artificial lake covering over 20,000 acres, a martyrs' cemetery spanning 400 acres, a 70-hectare botanical garden and resort, an over 80-hectare nursery and flower base, and the Hefei Wildlife Park. There is also the 370-meter-long “No. 1 Gallery of Anhui”—the Shushan Gallery—as well as the Zodiac Garden, the Paintball Shooting Entertainment Center, and themed gardens such as the Cherry Blossom Garden, Rose Garden, and Maple Grove, all landscaped with plants. Surrounded and set off by these gardens and water bodies, Shushan becomes even more enchanting and strikingly beautiful, especially in spring. Climbing to the mountaintop and looking into the distance, you’ll see vast misty waters blending seamlessly with the sky, surrounded by hazy fog and the faint silhouettes of fishing boats. Strolling through the mountain’s forested foothills, you’ll be greeted by blooming peach and willow trees, fluttering butterflies, buzzing bees, vibrant flower clusters, and swaying bamboo shadows—all of which bring a sense of peace and joy. The Hefei High-Tech Industrial Development Zone lies to the east of Shushan, and the cluster of modern buildings adds a contemporary rhythm to the scenic area.

Shushan Scenic Area has become a place for people to honor martyrs, go sightseeing, and enjoy leisure and relaxation.
