The Anhui Paleontological Fossil Museum serves as a science education base.

The Anhui Paleontological Fossil Museum is equipped with advanced science education facilities and comprehensive hardware and software resources. It has a total construction area of 27,995 square meters (including 1,500 square meters for the old building and 26,495 square meters for the new building), housing a collection of 50,000 specimens.

The old building is located at No. 239 Wuhu Road in the downtown area of Hefei and features four exhibition halls: the Mineral Crystal Boutique Hall, the Paleontological Fossil Hall, the Mineral Rock Hall, and the Exotic Stone Hall. The new building is situated in Hefei’s Government and Cultural District and permanently houses six exhibition halls: the Orientation Hall, the Earth Hall, the Life Evolution Hall, the Mineral Rock Hall, the Resources and Environment Hall, and the Dinosaur Hall, with an exhibition area of 16,902 square meters. It is a modern, high-tech geological and paleontological museum with distinctive Anhui characteristics. It serves as a “window” for showcasing and exchanging information on Anhui’s resources, environment, and provincial conditions, a center for collecting and researching rare geological and mineral specimens, a base for popularizing earth science knowledge and fostering scientific literacy among young people, and an ideal destination integrating scientific research, science education, sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, and rock appreciation. Since its establishment, the Anhui Paleontological Fossil Museum has carried out numerous science outreach activities. For example, every year it actively organizes earth science-themed educational events based on national campaigns such as World Earth Day, National Land Day, Science and Technology Week, and National Science Popularization Day. It also maintains close science education partnerships with multiple universities and frequently conducts outreach activities on campus.
