The Ancient Sword Casting Site at Divine Mountain is located in the northeastern suburbs of Wuhu City, forming a continuous range with Divine Mountain, Furnace Mountain, and Ma'anshan. The rolling hills exude an ancient historical charm. Legend has it that during the Spring and Autumn Period, the master swordsmiths Ganjiang and Moye set up their furnaces here to forge swords. After three years of labor, they produced a pair of swords—one male and one female. The blades shimmered with a bluish gleam, were incredibly sharp, and perfectly balanced between hardness and flexibility.

The *Tujing* states: “Ganjiang tempered his swords here.” To this day, the mountain still retains ancient relics such as the “Sword Tempering Pool,” “Sword Sharpening Stone,” and “Iron Threshold.” The Sword Tempering Pool is situated at the mountain’s summit. Though small and not deep, its waters never dry up year-round and are so clear they reflect like a mirror—an extraordinary sight.

Historical records indicate that Ganjiang was also buried on this mountain. The renowned Tang Dynasty general Li Jing once quelled a rebellion in the vicinity, and later generations built the Li Wei Gong Ancestral Hall on Divine Mountain in his honor. During the Song Dynasty, Shen Duanjie, the magistrate of Wuhu County, led the populace in praying for rain on Divine Mountain. Their prayers were answered with a generous rainfall, prompting the construction of the “Joy Memorial Pavilion.” In 1987, the Wuhu Municipal People’s Government rebuilt the Joy Memorial Pavilion.

With its unique historical charm and scenic beauty, Divine Mountain was recently designated by the municipal government as one of the “Ten Scenic Spots of Wuhu,” under the name “Crimson Cast Green Peaks.”
