Luo Xiaoming’s Residence

Luo Xiaoming’s Residence is a three-story brick-and-wood building from the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty, featuring a five-bay facade and classified as a type with five bays and two wing rooms. The main entrance is not on the front but located inside the east wing room. The ground floor has five bays, with three utilizing a "raised-beam" structure to serve as the main hall, aiming to enlarge the space for receiving guests, while the two side bays are furnished as living quarters. The second and third floors both have three bays, with the column grid on the upper floors not aligned with that of the ground floor. The main hall on the third floor is designed with an ancestral shrine, while the remaining spaces are used as bedrooms. The T-shaped bracket on the ground floor breaks from conventional design, being carved into an upside-down carp with water spray coming from its mouth. The entire carved component is fully openwork, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship.
