Located on the “Zhong” Stream (pronounced similarly to “zhong”) in Chengkan Village, it connects Chengkan Village with Xidong Street. In ancient times, it was the main route from Chengkan to Lingshan and Xucun in the northern part of She County. The bridge has two piers and three arches, with flat stone beams as the deck, built entirely of granite. Constructed in the 5th year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1529), it is 15 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, and approximately 3.5 meters high. An open corridor is built at the western end of the bridge deck, with wooden framing covered in small blue tiles, and “flying chairs” installed on both sides for people to rest. Stone slabs embedded in the piers bear inscriptions. One reads: “This bridge, originally known as Huanshou Bridge, had stood for ages but was washed away by floods. The philanthropist Luo Gaizong, together with his wife Lady Wu, funded the reconstruction with their own resources, hiring workers to rebuild it to facilitate travel—may fortune follow those who benefit. Erected in the autumn month of the Jiazi year, 5th year of the Jiajing era, Ming Dynasty.” Another smaller stone tablet bears the inscription: “Repaired in October, the 9th year of the Daoguang era, by Hengzhong.” Historical records state: “Huishan Bridge is located in Chengkan Village and served as a key passageway connecting Xiuning, She, Jing, and Tai. It was built during the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty by a local man named Luo Huanshou, featuring three stone arches and a bridge house. It was destroyed during warfare in the 2nd year of the Tongzhi era, and rebuilt by Lady Zheng, wife of Luo Fujun. It was also restored in the 27th year of the Guangxu era (1901) through donations led by Luo Henrun and others.”

Chengkan Village: Located in Chengkan Town, Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, Chengkan Village was first established during the Eastern Han and Three Kingdoms periods. Its layout follows the Yin-Yang and Eight Trigrams theory from the Book of Changes—“Yang” represented by “Cheng” and “Yin” by “Kan.” By the late Tang Dynasty, it was renamed “Chengkan.” With over 1,800 years of history, this village was once referred to by Zhu Xi as the “Number One Village in the South of the Yangtze.” It is also one of the best-preserved ancient Huizhou-style architectural complexes. The “Luodongshu Ancestral Hall” and the “Ancient Architectural Complex of Chengkan Village” have both been designated as National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
