Yansi Tongji Bridge

Located in the center of Yansi Old Street, it is also known as Shixin Bridge. It is a single-arch bridge constructed from red-purple stone. The Ying River flows through and joins the Fengle River, dividing Yansi into eastern and western sections. Originally, a wooden bridge was used to cross. In the 10th year of the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty (1474), Prefect Zhou Zheng urged local residents to rebuild the bridge in stone. Wang Yongben, a local resident, took the lead in initiating the project, resulting in the completion of a single-arch stone bridge. It is 25 meters long and 10 meters wide, with railings built on both sides. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Wang clan descendants Hongren and Hongshi, following their mother Lady Cheng’s instructions, carried out renovations, making the bridge even more solid than before. It remains an important thoroughfare for local residents to this day.
