Huangshan Scenic Area is a national scenic spot, a AAAAA-level tourist attraction, a national geopark, a patriotic education base, and a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site.

Dominating the southern part of China’s Anhui Province, Huangshan is a world-renowned tourist destination. Alongside the Yellow River, the Yangtze River, and the Great Wall, Huangshan has become another symbol of the Chinese nation. In December 1990, it was inscribed on the UNESCO "World Cultural and Natural Heritage" list, captivating people around the globe. It is celebrated for its "Four Wonders": unique pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds, and hot springs. It is the only mountainous scenic area among China’s Top Ten Scenic Spots. As a representative of China’s mountains, Huangshan embodies the essence of the country’s renowned peaks. Since ancient times, there’s a saying: “After seeing the Five Great Mountains, you don’t need to see any others; after seeing Huangshan, you don’t need to see the Five Great Mountains.” Huangshan is also known as a “natural zoo and botanical garden.” It welcomes visitors from all over the world with its majestic beauty.

The Huangshan Scenic Area spans approximately 154 square kilometers and includes 72 peaks of various sizes, such as Lotus Peak and Bright Summit Peak, with the three main peaks—Lotus Peak, Celestial Capital Peak, and Bright Summit Peak—all exceeding 1,800 meters above sea level. The area also features two lakes, three waterfalls, sixteen springs, and twenty-four streams that complement one another in beauty. The pine trees of Huangshan have short, thick needles and flat tops, often appearing as if sculpted, and exhibit unique forms. Famous pines include the Guest-Greeting Pine, the Reclining Dragon Pine, the Black Tiger Pine, the Kylin Pine, and others.

The grotesque peaks and fantastic rocks of Huangshan are masterpieces carved by nature, some resembling humans, objects, birds, or beasts, all remarkably lifelike. The most famous grotesque rocks include “Monkey Gazing at the Sea,” along with “Dream Pen Blooming into a Flower,” “Immortals Playing Chess,” “Rhinoceros Gazing at the Moon,” “Golden Rooster Crowing at the Heavenly Gate,” “Peacock Playing with Lotus,” and the sea of clouds, among others. Huangshan’s scenery varies with the seasons, and seasonal wonders such as sunrises, sunset glows, cloud iridescence, Buddha’s light, and rime ice each offer their own unique charm, truly making it a heavenly paradise on earth.

Tangkou Town: Tangkou Town is the gateway to Huangshan, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site and Global Geopark, and is an internationally renowned tourist town.

Located at the southern and eastern foot of Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui Province, Tangkou Town is under the jurisdiction of Huangshan District, Huangshan City. It borders Fuxi Township of Huizhou District to the east, the Huangshan Scenic Area to the west, Xiuning County and Yi County to the south, and Tanjiaqiao Town of Huangshan to the north.
