Emerald Pool

Introduction: Located 1 kilometer from Lotus Peak, Emerald Pool is also known as "Ancient Oil Pond." It is a famous water feature in Huangshan, a natural pool on the Songgu Creek. This pool is naturally formed by the surrounding cliffs and two massive rocks above and below. It is about 10 meters deep, 15 meters long, and 8 meters wide. Its formation is the result of water cascading over large boulders in the valley before flowing forward and crashing against them. Near Songgu Hermitage lies the Songgu Creek, with Pillow Peak to the east and Lotus Peak to the west. By the pool are massive rocks, one of which bears an inscription of the Chinese character "佛" (Buddha) measuring 3 meters in diameter, as well as cliff inscriptions such as "福" (Fortune), "寿" (Longevity), and "南无阿弥陀佛" (Amitabha Buddha).
