Aoyu Peak

Introduction: Located in the central part of Huangshan. It is named for its resemblance to a turtle-like fish with its mouth open, as if waiting to eat. It is the first among the Thirty-Six Small Peaks of Huangshan. Descending from Lotus Peak, passing the Turtle and Snake Rocks and the Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder, and going through the Lotus Cave, you will reach Aoyu Peak. This peak stands at an elevation of 1,780 meters and is named after its shape — the massive and towering fish head gives the impression of swallowing the heavens and earth. Descending from Lotus Peak, passing the Turtle and Snake Rocks and the Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder, and going through the Lotus Cave, you will arrive at Aoyu Peak. There is a triangular Aoyu Cave on the mountainside of the peak, with the characters “Tian Zao” (meaning “created by nature”) inscribed above the cave entrance. Inside the cave, there is a stairway that allows visitors to enter and exit through the cave, resembling a turtle-like fish swallowing and exhaling. In front of the peak, there are several rocks that resemble snails when viewed from afar; on the back side of the peak, there is a large cleverly shaped turtle rock, lying near several small egg-shaped rocks, forming scenic views such as the turtle-like fish carrying a golden turtle and the old turtle laying eggs.  Transportation: Located in the central-western part of Huangshan, it can be reached by going through the Lotus Cave from Lotus Peak.
